Dr. Pujianto, M.Pd carried out a Workshop on Strengthening the Implementation of the Independent Curriculum at FMIPA UNY to Increase the Capacity of High School Teachers in Yogyakarta

Dr. Pujianto, M.Pd. (lecturer in physics education at FMIPA UNY) as head of the Community Service (PKM) team together with Khafidh Nur Aziz, S.Sc., M.Sc. and Bayu Setiaji, M.Pd. as a member of the service team and facilitator held the "Workshop on Strengthening the Implementation of the Independent Curriculum" on Wednesday, June 12 2024. The event, which aimed to increase the capacity of high school teachers in Yogyakarta City, took place on the FMIPA UNY campus and was attended by teacher representatives from SMAN 5 Yogyakarta, SMAN 6 Yogyakarta, SMAN 8 Yogyakarta, SMAN 10 Yogyakarta, SMA IT Abu Bakar, SMA Stella Duce 2, and SMA Pangudi Luhur. Workshop activities were held to support the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in schools, with a focus on differentiated learning and the formation of learning communities. Apart from that, this workshop also discusses the main challenges in implementing positive discipline in schools. Participants have the opportunity to explore good practices that have been implemented by schools in Yogyakarta that are members of the Driving School Program (PSP). As resource persons, representatives from eight high schools in Yogyakarta City who have successfully implemented the Independent Curriculum Implementation (IKM) and participated in the Driving School Program (PSP), shared their experiences in building an inclusive and effective learning ecosystem. Through this activity, it is hoped that the participating teachers can adapt relevant methods and strategies to be implemented in their respective schools, so as to strengthen the quality of education at the high school level. With this workshop, FMIPA UNY is committed to continuing to play an active role in supporting the development of education in Yogyakarta, especially through training and mentoring for educators. This workshop is also expected to be the first step for wider collaboration between universities and schools in the city of Yogyakarta in developing quality and sustainable educational practices.
