Visiting Professor in Physics Education Study Program

The Physics Education Study Program holds a visiting professor by inviting Prof. Madya. Dr. Nurulhuda Bint Abd Rahman from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, UPSI Malaysia. This activity was conducted online on 9-18 November 2020 and consisted of eight meetings. Students from semesters 3, 5, and 7 attended the first seven meetings. The topics discussed by the visiting professor included: 1) 21st-century learning; 2) Interactive Lecture in Online Learning; 3) The STEM approach in teaching and learning: Making use of the 5E teaching model; 4) Planning for Physics Lessons based on the STEM approach; 5) Concept mapping: A tool for meaningful learning; 6) Online tools for facilitating teaching and learning; and 7) Differentiating between assessment with testing, measurement, and evaluation.

 

This Visiting Professor received a good response from students and lecturers. Student enthusiasm was very high; no less than 100 participants attended each daily activity session at the seventh meeting, the last meeting between students and Prof. Madya. Dr. Nurulhuda Bint Abd Rahman, students wrote various responses about their feelings during the lecture sessions. The majority of them reported happy, interesting, unique, and fun. It is hoped that this activity can establish cooperation and collaboration in education and research, as was discussed in the open discussion held with the lecturers. (Athi' N A Rahmah).
